Queen of Peace

Saturday, May 01, 2021
As we begin this beautiful month of May, a month dedicated to Mary, we pause to reflect on Mary's title of Queen of Peace. Peace is the Easter Message, the gift of the Risen Lord. At every appearance of the Risen Christ, He greeted people with PEACE. The word peace derives from the French word for reconciliation, and from the Latin word for tranquility. Mary, as the Mother of Christ and the Mother of His Church, is a perfect model of reconciliation and of tranquility. With Jesus she reaches out to all people, echoing the forgiveness of her crucified Son and breathing her Risen Son's spirit of tranquility upon every generation. Let us begin the month of May remembering that we are a forgiven people and a people filled with the peace and tranquility of the Risen Christ. Today's flower, the Peace Lily reminds us that peace reigns above chaos and fear just as the white flowers of this plant stand tall above its dark green leaves. Rejoice, the peace of Christ reigns over all. Sr. Donna Marie
