 Praying with power
First Saturday prayer
Easter, Day 42

This is the first Saturday of May.
One of the messages that Our Lady of the Rosary gave at Fatima is a First Saturday Devotion which includes

• Reception of Holy Communion (including Confession or being in the state of grace)
• Praying five decades of the rosary
• Spending 15 minutes in meditation on the mysteries of the rosary
• Offering all of this in reparation for sins and ingratitude against the Immaculate Heart of Our Lady.

Rev Albert J. Shamon writing on the Power of the Rosary says that the rosary is so efficacious because it is a “thinking prayer,” and bad thinking got us into the mess we are in today.   He said that the moral evils and errors of out day seem to have come from France in the 18th Century.  He suggests that the apparitions of Our Lady in the 19th century took place in France: Paris, 1830; La Salette, 1846; Lourdes 1858; Portman 1871 because of the errors in their thinking.

Fr. Stefan Gobbi (1930-2011) was an Italian priest who founded the Marian Movement of Priests (MMP) following an “interior locution” in 1972 at the shrine of Our Lady of Fatima. (In an interior locution, a person reportedly receives a set of (usually auditory) ideas, thoughts, or imaginations from an outside spiritual source. Interior locutions are most often reported during prayers. An interior locution is a form of private revelation but is distinct from an apparition or religious vision because[  no supernatural entity is reported as present during the interior locution)  He has had other “interior locutions” and he said that on October 7, 1983 Our Lady said to him

“Beloved sons, in the battle in which you are daily engaged
Against Satan and his crafty and dangerous seductions, and against
The mighty armies of evil, apart from the special help given you by the angels of the Lord,
It is necessary for you to employ a weapon which is both secure and invincible.
This weapon is your prayer.
…Prayer possesses a potent force and starts a chain reaction
In good that is far more powerful than any atomic reaction.
The prayer of my predilection is the holy rosary,
For this reason, in my apparitions I always ask that it be recited.”

In the gospel today, Jesus tells us how to pray
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Amen, amen, I say to you,
whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give you.
Until now you have not asked anything in my name;
ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete.

Today, let us exercise our power in the name of Jesus.
