Jesus speaks to us
6th Sunday, Easter

In our liturgy today
we encounter Jesus who speaks these words to us
and empowers us to live in love and to prepare ourselves and all those we touch
for eternity with the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit

.Today is the first day of May, one of the months we especially honor Mary and it is also the day that has been designated by Pius XII (1955)  as the feast of St. Joseph the worker.  The message of today’s liturgy was shared with his family by Jesus as he was growing up

This Sunday, in the Gospel , we hear the words
“Whoever loves me will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our dwelling with him”.
Jesus made his dwelling with Mary and Joseph

Jesus goes on to say that
The Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name will teach you everything and remind you of all that I told you.”
Imagine Mary and Joseph learning about God from their son, Jesus

  Then he says,
“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you.”
The lives of Mary and Joseph were lived in peace in spite of their flight into Egypt

And because he knows our human nature he tells us
Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.”
I think Joseph had a peaceful death in the arms of Jesus.

In the first reading from Acts
“We see how the early disciples take the words of Jesus to heart and, led by the Holy Spirit, proclaimed the message of Jesus to the world”
One of the messages of Mary and Joseph was a loving family

In the second reading from Revelations
“John tell us his vision of life in the next world if we take the message of Jesus to heart.”
Mary is our Queen and Joseph our patron

We are united with Mary and Joseph in the body of Christ.
