 The loving thing
Good Friday. March 25

This year Good Friday falls on the 25th of March which is the day when the Archangel, Gabriel announced the wish of God to Mary that she conceive and bear his Son and she offered herself as the handmaid of the Lord and agreed to his wish which resulted in the greatest event in the history of the world:   “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us.”   It is said that this day, March 25 is the day on which Adam and Eve were created,   the day that Jesus died on the cross and  the day St. John the Baptist was beheaded (exactly one year before the death of Jesus).   It was also the day that Mary told St. Bernadette at Lourdes that “I am the Immaculate Conception.”  Early Christians regarded this as the day the world was created.

All of these things draw us to reflect on the reality of our lives.   It’s not just another day.  No day is just another day.  Each day of our lives is a day that God calls us into being and invites us to say yes to his invitation to us to fulfill his will for us by doing the loving thing in the spirit of Jesus, God’s son and our brother.
