 Happy are the merciful
Catholic Sisters Week
Day 5

The Director of the foundresses of the Sisters of the Resurrection was a Resurrectionist  priest and
our Constitution was influenced by the Constitution of the Fathers and Brothers of the Resurrection
and theirs was based on the Eight Beatitudes.
This is a reflection on the Fifth Beatitude
that was used for the Sixth Sunday of Easter which is this coming Sunday

“Happy are the merciful:  they shall have mercy shown theme”  Mt. 5:7

After having striven for the blessing of justice, the Congregation shall strive with equal zeal to merit the blessing of the merciful.  In this manner the lives of the servants of God will become a perfect act of love of God and neighbor.  These two—love of God and love of neighbor—will join in a mutual embrace and merge into a divine unity—truth and peace, justice and mercy.  “Love and Loyalty now meet; Righteousness and Peace now embrace;  Loyalty reaches up from earth and Righteousness leans down from heaven (Ps. 85:11).  This truly divine virtue of mercy, which makes us like unto our heavenly Father, shall have this effect on the lives of all of us: that we shall sacrifice everything for the love of neighbor:  prayer, work, all the faculties of soul, physical strength, all that we are and have.
