 Be joyful
Lent Day 21

Today is the 21st day of lent. In case we are feeling the impact of our resolution this year, we can take heart from the saint of today. St. David of Wales (d. 589?)   He was a British saint who founded many monasteries, including the principle one in southwestern Wales.  He was famous for his eloquence and it was even said of him that one day, when he was preaching, a dove descended and rested on his shoulder and that the earth beneath him lifted him up so that he could be heard by all the people who were around him.  He and his monks were known for their hard work-tilling the soil without the help of animals and limiting their food to vegetables, bread and water. St. David was known for his joy which is attributed to his awareness of God’s nearness.   May his intercession bless us with the same awareness and our personal joy this lent.    Here are two of his quotes.

"Be joyful, brothers and sisters. Keep your faith, and do the little things that you have seen and heard with me.”

“Joy is the infallible sign of God’s presence."

Joy is an essential part of the charism of the Sisters of the Resurrection
